Frigg the rat

This is the cutie Frigg lying comfortably in her tube.

Frigg is a cute rat of one-and-a-half-year-old, so she’s an adult by now. When her owner welcomed her and her sisters they were around 3 months old.

The girls are living in their big house full of hiding spots – which make excellent beds apparently. They even have a big wheel they can run in – although Frigg is the only one really using it. Frigg loves running in the middle of the night when her owner tries to sleep.

These are her friends enjoying a treat.

But little Frigg got sick last week. She had a mean fast-growing tumour. When her owner brought her to the vet a day after he noticed a small tumour, it had grown out to almost half of her length.

The vet operated her the same day. He told us it was a very difficult operation, but he succeeded. Frigg isn’t allowed to move around a lot, so now she’s been living in her private sickbay for a week.

The little sweetheart isn’t too happy to be separated from her home and her friends, but we can’t explain to her it’s for her own good. We try to give her as much attention as possible. And she gets more treats than usual, which she’s always happy to accept.

But she’s been healing nicely, already being very active and asking attention. We hope she’ll soon be able to get back to her friends in her big house.
